Bikers Battling Cancer 2018 Ride For HOPE will raise money for the West Central Georgia Cancer Coalition, a 501c3 organization located in Columbus, Georgia that assists individuals and families with cancer in West Georgia and East Alabama with expenses through their Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund.
All money raised by BBC goes directly to the WCGCC. None goes to meet the expenses of the rider(s).
Last year, the second year for Bikers Battling Cancer, my course over 21 days in September and October crossed the United States twice to “X” Out Cancer covering 11,000 miles and raising almost $7,000 for the WCGCC. The support I received was tremendous, and I met some amazing people along the way, including a young man in Texas who saw me and gave me a Breast Cancer Pen he was carrying, which I carried the rest of the ride, and finally ran out of ink a couple of months ago.
Cancer treatment is expensive, and the normal daily household expenses of utilities, travel, and food may be pushed aside leaving families financially vulnerable. The WCGCC works to fill this gap, and each person receiving money goes through a thorough screening process. Since BBC has teamed up with the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund in 2016, the fund has helped 87 families and distributed just over $112,000.
This year’s “Ride For HOPE” will visit towns in the United States named Hope. (See map below) Again, in September and October, the route will take 21 days and cover over 10,000 miles ending at the Paint the Town Pink Event in Columbus on October 19th.
Help bring HOPE to those struggling with cancer. Please consider donating.
Honor Ribbons
Again, this year, I will be wearing honor ribbons for a donation of only $20. You can have the ribbon personalized supporting a person who has experienced cancer, or in memorial of a person who has died from cancer. There are four different ribbon colors to choose from (pink, blue, yellow/gold, and green). Each Honor Ribbon is $20, you can have a name, relationship, or nickname placed on the ribbon. (Limit is 8 letters and one name per ribbon). These ribbons will then be sewn onto a leather vest or chaps that will be worn during the BBC motorcycle ride in October, the Paint the Town Pink Event, and at other BBC events in honor of these people. For an Honor Ribbon, when you click on the “Donate” button, do the following:
1) Fill in the information regarding the donation (cost is $20 per ribbon).
2) Fill in the information in the box “In Honor of / In Memory of”
3) In the comment box identify the type of cancer the person had. If you want more than one ribbon to identify the name and type of cancer for each individual. (Ribbons are $20 each)
