Danni Harris
Danni Harris was born in Dothan, Alabama to a large family that consisted of her parents two brother’s and a younger sister. Shortly after young Danni’s birth her family relocated to Columbus, Georgia. Danni recalls fond memories of her childhood and enjoyed being the oldest girl. She would often force her siblings to play “School”. Danni attended and graduated from St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School and later went on to study Psychology at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
During Danni’s senior year at Auburn University, she had the opportunity to meet and befriend current CEO and President of WCGCC, Ms. Cheryl Averett Johnson. After graduating from Auburn University, Danni gained employment at Synovus Bank before becoming the Director and President of St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School (her Alma Mater) in 2008.

Why did you get involved with WCGCC and what is your role?
“I initially got involved with WCGCC because of Ms. Cheryl. My father suffered a stroke shortly after my presidency at St. Anne’s and I stepped away from that role to care for my father. In doing so, I saw the “low” that caregivers experience. Before my father became ill, I had no idea what it was like to be a caregiver. I saw the toll it was taking on myself as well as my parents. Cheryl was so supportive and aided in finding resources for stroke victims. Because of that, I was able to understand the importance of her role at WCGCC and how supportive the community is to stroke victims.”
“I would say my initial role at WCGCC was volunteering. Next thing I know, I began working part time because of my background in Development and Fundraising. It felt great knowing I was helping an organization that was dedicated to helping others. Then Cheryl asked if I’d like to serve on the Paint the Town Pink (PTTP) Committee and I’ve served as the Sponsorship Chair since 2018. I often feel I get more in return than I give because it’s such a rewarding experience working with WCGCC. Being able to volunteer in the office and at an event, I’m able to see the money being raised and see the recipients benefiting from the good work and donations.
Special Interest- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
“There is nothing I enjoy more than spending quality time with my family and friends. Even if it’s just all of us sitting down to share a meal, watch a movie or play a game. My husband, Bill and I love to travel and are planning to visit Ireland and Scotland in the near future. We moved to Florida in 2020 and we call it our “Happy Place” because even on your worst day the beach is right there to enjoy and meditate.”
How would you best describe the WCGCC?
“WCGCC is an organization that is absolutely needed not only in our community but in several communities because of the work that we do. I often think about people who are diagnosed with cancer who are financially struggling. We’re able to offset a burden to individuals who have lost their job or are single parents trying to pay bills and go through cancer treatment. This organization helps cancer patients get the help and assistance that they need. To me, this organization is God sent. That’s the way I would describe this organization.”
